from a lion to a leopard

My laptop has been so slow since Lion that in the last weeks I got to work on it, and downgraded it to Snow Leopard. Downgrading an OS is easy, but downgrading your data, tools and workflow isn’t.

I found some major problems right from the end of SL installation:

• Time Machine backups can’t be partially restored in a downgrade (meaning I had to copy all the stuff and deal with a lot of symbolic links);
• iPhoto ‘11 doesn’t work in SL, so my photo library is a mess right now;
• TextMate 2 is stuck in some months-old build;
• Xcode 4 for SL isn’t available anymore so I had to download it somewhere else;
• Fullscreen mode doesn’t exist at all.

I took the time to increase RAM from 2 to 3 GB (a sound investment so far), and the laptop runs even better… I’ll have to try Lion again.
